Moment a brand-new McLaren hypercar worth more than $1,000,000 gets washed out of a Florida garage by hurricane Ian's floodwaters

The state has been wracked by the giant storm for the past 24 hours, leaving a path of total devastation in its wake.

Due to the thousands of individuals still trapped on the roofs of their flooded homes and the 2.5 million people without power, Florida authorities have issued a warning that the number of fatalities will be "in the hundreds."

Dramatic footage shows a heart wrenching moment for car lovers as a Florida man's McLaren P1 is swept away down the street by flood waters as catastrophic Ian continues to pummel Florida

One Florida resident by the name of Ernie, who was impacted by the storm, recorded video of his own tragic loss as his just purchased McLaren P1 was swept out of his garage and down the street lined with mansions that now resembles a raging river.

The car aficionado appears to have a fleet of high-end vehicles, which he frequently flaunts on Instagram.

However, the previous 12 postings on Ernie's account have been dominated by the McLaren P1, with the first one commencing a week ago when he noted that the car had only 300 miles on it. Its initial asking price was reportedly well than $1 million.

Ernie posted pictures of his hurricane-devastated Naples, Florida neighborhood on Wednesday night, showing how the streets had become rivers. Both the McLaren P1 and Rolls Royce, which were kept in his garage, were fully surrounded by water.

Only the top of the bright yellow McLaren P1 could be seen floating along the street in his most recent post. "Car went through the garage," it said in the caption.

His fans sympathized with him during his grief and left encouraging comments on his blog posts. Many people prayed for everyone's safety and reminded him that cars can be replaced.

Stay safe, autos are replaceable, one user advised.

Another person added, "Hope everyone is okay."

I'm so sorry. It's most important that you and your family are safe, another user wrote. Praying for you."

Ernie shared additional images and videos of the destruction in his neighborhood on his Instagram stories.

Ernie had posted a picture of the vehicle online with the caption "My hurricane supply car #p1" before the hurricane made landfall.

Later, rude comments began to appear on several of his earlier posts, particularly one concerning storm preparation.

He posted a picture of the McLaren P1 with the doors open, revealing a few food bags inside, hours before the hurricane made landfall. The caption has been altered and currently reads, "My storm supply car."

One user commented: 'This didn't age well...'

Another wrote: 'It's the hurricane's car now.'

A third said: 'Moments before disaster.'
