Kidnappers abduct WAEC Official in Ondo,demand N20m



Some suspected gunmen have reportedly abducted a WAEC official, Adebayo Gbenga and three other unidentified travellers at Oba Akoko on Owo- Akungba Road in Akoko South West Local Government.
Besides,the family of a 20-year old Faith Aluko has announced her sudden disappearance since Sunday in Oba-Ile area of Akure, Ondo State
Sources said Adebayo,an official of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) working in Akure, Ondo State office took his son to the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) with his friend when the incident happened.
Adebayo,who was said to be driving his Toyota Corolla car on the road, was accosted along with other motorists on the road by gunmen.
According to the source, Gbenga’s friend and his son escaped from being kidnapped as they quickly opened the door of the car and ran into the bush.
He said the gunmen after capturing Gbenga marched him and three others in another vehicles into the bush.
A source close to the family disclosed that the kidnappers had called to demand N20 million ransom.
The source said the kidnappers also called their victim’s boss in WAEC office Akure and threatened to kill the man if they refused to pay the money.
He said the WAEC officer’s plea that they could raise only N1.2 million for the release was rebuffed by the kidnappers who warned them to raise the money for them to release the man.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)Femi Joseph, a Superintendent of Police(SP)said the command had commenced investigation into it.
PPRO said the police would do everything possible to ensure that Gbenga and others are released safely and perpetrators would be brought to book.
Also, the family of a 20 year-old Faith Aluko has announced her sudden disappearance in Oba-Ile area of Akure, Ondo State.
According to her father, they left home for church on Sunday along Airport road but according to the security officers manning the entrance of the church, Faith told them she wanted to buy a sanitary pad in a retail shop besides the church and is yet to return.
“I just heard that a 20-year old girl is missing at Mountain of Fire and Miracle in Owode in Akure North LG area of Ondo State
“The 400 level student of one of the nation’s universities (AAUA) have been declared missing at the church premises.”
The incident, according to sources has been reported at Oba-Ile police station.
The family said: “Whoever knows the whereabouts of Faith Aluko should kindly contact Mr and Mrs Aluko on 08132049898, or the PPRO of Ondo state Police Command, Femi Joseph on 08060159998.”
