Nigeria vs. Mexico: The Super Eagles get thrashed by the Tricolor in the United States.

  •  After a 4-0 loss to Mexico, the Super Eagles had a disappointing outing in the United States.
  • In the game, Hector Herrera scored two goals, while Jonathan dos Santos and Rogelio Fumes Mori each scored one.
  • Anayo Iwuala made some spectacular runs down the flank, but the team was too disjointed for him to be understood.
On Sunday, July 4, Mexico defeated Nigeria's Super Eagles 4-0 in an international friendly match at the Memorial Coliseum's United Airlines Field.

The game got off to a bright start for the Tricolor, with Hector Herrera of Atletico Madrid opening the score for his South American side just two minutes into the contest.

In the second minute, Hector made a move down the right side of the 18-yard box to jab the ball into the net, but while clearing the ball out, a Nigerian defender played it into his own net, giving their hosts the lead.

With the early goal, they frightened Nigerian Professional Football League stars who had yet to settle into the game.

Rogelio Fumes Mori extended Mexico's advantage in the fourth minute and dominated the rest of the game, just as the Nigerian stars were still getting their bearings.

Despite their best efforts, the Eagles were just too quick to pass the ball and couldn't keep possession for more than 60 seconds.

The game became even more difficult for them after Hector Herrera made it three for the hosts in the 52nd minute, converting a rebound well outside the 18-yard box.

Meanwhile, substitute Jonathan dos Santos added to the South Americans' tally with a spectacular volley from close range to make it four goals.

Anayo Iwuala had some incredible runs in the game, but he didn't seem to have anyone who knew what he was doing

Ibrahim Sanusi also produced some crosses, but his deliveries went unnoticed by his teammates, allowing the Mexicans to simply transition from defending to attacking and terrorize the Nigerian team.

All Kasper Hjulmand's men needed was a goal from Thomas Delaney and a goal from Kasper Dolberg to advance to the tournament's last four.

Patrik Schick upped his score in the continental tournament to five goals, but despite a valiant effort from start to end, they were unable to avoid elimination.
