Lionel Messi receives a huge exit offer as Barcelona downfall continues
Barcelona will have to rebuild themselves soon to avoid matching the fate of AC Milan or a similar club, but that may well be without Lionel Messi.
Barcelona captain Lionel Messi looked absolutely dejected and livid as his side was well beaten by Real Madrid on Sunday. The 32 year old has not made public comments about how he feels about Barca’s condition in a long time but it’s certain that Messi is an unhappy man, at least looking at the direction in which the club is going.
Some weeks ago, there was talk that Lionel Messi might leave for newer pastures and end his career on a high rather than staying at a club that seems to be on a downward spiral. Manchester City was thought to be an attractive destination thanks to Pep Guardiola managing them, but their Champions League ban shed water on any possible transfer.
Don Balon has now reported that MLS outfit Inter Miami is readying a contract for the Argentina international. David Beckham’s side played its first official match for the first time last weekend and were beaten 1-0 by Los Angeles FC, but the former England international seems to have ambitious plans for his newest venture going into the future.
Lionel Messi’s Barcelona contract allows him to leave the club for free at the end of every season, so that’s a massive plus point for any team that would be interested in signing him. A player of Messi’s caliber will cost somewhere around 200 million euros, but saving on a hefty transfer fee could see the Blaugrana man offered a very lucrative contract.
Inter Miami would definitely be a superb destination for Messi to end his career. Beckham’s team is surely going to sign some top European players over the coming months and is situated in a great location as well. Having said that, Messi could create history in the United States before hanging up his boots at his first club- Newell’s Old Boys.
